Hilda Baci Set A New Guinness World cooking record: Popular Nigerian chef Hilda Buci has broken the old longest cooking hours previously held by Indian Chef Lata Tondon who made meals for 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds.

The chef at the time of writing this report, had cooked for 87 hours and 50 minutes and still cooking.

As the famous chef goes about her activities, Nigerians are still gathered around to support her.

Her live video captured people screaming to show how very proud they are of her. It should be noted that for the past four days that her cooking hackathon has unified many Nigerians for all works of life as they congregate at her cooking station.

Hilda Baci clocks 100 hour cooking time

Record-smashing Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci has ended her marathon cooking at 100 hours, setting a new Guinness World Record for ‘longest cooking time’ by an individual.

Recall Hilda had, on Monday morning, equaled and surpassed the record held by Indian chef Lata Tandon for the longest cooking duration.

The Akwa-Ibom-born chef will then go on to hit her initial 96-hour target only for her to go extra four hours, peaking at a new world record of 100 hours.

Hilda started cooking on Thursday at 4 pm Nigerian time when she turned on her cooker for the cook-than.

According to Tribune, It took Hilda 6 years of preparation to win the Guinness cook-a-thon. At 21, Hilda considered participating in the Guinness cook-a-thon but needed to do more due to finances.

She saved for the competition

She soon came up with a plan to save enough for the competition. Five years later, working full-time at a fashion retail company, acting, presenting cooking TV shows, and hosting a talent show — MTN Yello Star in 2020, Hilda was finally ready to participate in the Guinness World Record cook-a-thon challenge.

She designed over 100 recipes

Hilda and her team designed over 100 recipes to be served at the event to stay energized on recipes and food lists to prepare.

Hiring of trainer

Hilda hired a trainer to prepare her for the physical requirements of a 100-hour prolonged activity. Having conceived the idea of attempting a Guinness World Record.

Intensive workout to shed weight

She started an intensive workout in 2022 to shed weight in preparation for the competition.

Hiring of a Gym coachoi

Hilda hired celebrity Gym coach, Kemen, as she had acknowledged that her former weight couldn’t carry her Guinness World Record dream.

She had enough rest 

Weeks before the competition started, Hilda noted that she had spent the last week resting in preparation for the long stand.

Her mum; her motivation

Hilda’s mum is her motivation, having been a child of a chef. Hilda had been preparing for the Guinness record years ago while supporting her mum in her restaurant called “Calabar Pot.”

Who is the Guinness World Record for cooking?

Nigerian chef, Hilda Bassey Effiong, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking hours.

Hilda earlier surpassed the previous record set by Lata Tondon, an Indian chef, in 2019. Lata Tondon cooked for 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 seconds to break the previous title.
