double liver damage.

Alcohol Causes Damage to the Liver: Herbal mixtures, often referred to as herbal bitters, are made from medicinal herbs and spices that have been steeped in alcohol and kept in bottles.

Herbal bitters are employed in the prevention of ailments like arthritis, the management of inflammation, and an improvement in digestion, among other things, according to an article by modernghana.com.

Ms. Amissah pointed out, however, that the practice is bad for the liver while speaking to Kafui Dey on the GTV Morning Show.

Because many herbal remedies are unregulated and even though some herbs may be beneficial, she said, “You now have alcohol and herbs with alcohol proven to cause liver damage with the herbal mixtures likely to cause liver damage so now you have given the liver a double blow.”

Ms. Amissah said as well “Every time alcohol comes into touch with a liver cell, a little amount of cell death occurs. So, instead of being capable of regenerating itself, it creates a little scar, and when there are several of these scars, it is known as liver cirrhosis “.

She counseled alcoholics to avoid consuming alcohol and dealing with its consequences and to instead become involved in activities that will benefit them.
