Appealing BECE Results: WAEC Offers Students a Chance for Review
Appealing BECE Results: In the 33rd edition of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), students dissatisfied with their results now have the opportunity to appeal, as disclosed by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
Appealing BECE Results: Appeal Process
A spokesperson from WAEC, speaking with our editorial team, shared that candidates can request a review of their BECE for School papers within 60 days of the provisional results being released online.
“Every candidate has the right to appeal if not satisfied with the result. We have a system for students to appeal two months after the results are online,” mentioned the WAEC official.
To initiate the appeal process, interested BECE students are advised to contact the nearest WAEC office directly and cautioned against involving third parties or individuals claiming to be WAEC staff.
Ensuring Transparency
Addressing concerns about intentional failure or result manipulation, the WAEC official emphasized the organization’s credibility, stating, “Our processes are fair and transparent. We do not fail candidates or leak questions to tarnish our image.”
Responding to claims of fake 2023 BECE results circulating online, Victor Brew, Head Legal at WAEC, assured that 99% of the national examination results at https://eresults.waecgh.org are authentic. He emphasized the commitment of WAEC to delivering only genuine results, promising prompt correction of any identified errors.
