GES provides staff training to address computer school placement problems: In a move to guarantee that students who took the 2022 BECE are placed smoothly into different second-cycle schools, the Ghana Education Service claims that it has trained some of its personnel to handle all computer school placement issues.
In a post sighted by the editorial team, the management of the Service said a call centre number at the appropriate time will be announced publicly for those who cannot visit any of the school placement solution centres across the country.
“If you can’t visit any of our solution centres across the country, we are just a call away. Our call centre is ready. Staff trained as well. The call centre number will be published soon,” the Education Service said in the social media post.
In a related development, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned members of the general public, particularly students to be wary of fraudsters after the much-awaited second-cycle school placements have been released.
GES urged students who will be participating in the school placement exercise to be vigilant and disregard claims by some internet café operators who claim can change the placement.
“The activity of some internet café operators claiming to have access to the computerized placement system last year came to our notice, we urge parents and students this year to be vigilant during the school checking,” he stated.
The unscrupulous café operators he said lure the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates to pay an amount of money for their already placed or selected Senior High School to be changed to their preferred choice.
The GES official indicated the computerized school placement system (CSSPS) portal as part of measures to ensure the smooth placement of all successful 2022 BECE students has been secured and is not possible to be compromised.
“Any person who contacts you to pay any amount of money for your placed or selected school to be changed or claims to have access to the school placement system or websites is a fraudster,” GES.
He also encouraged parents and guardians to find time and take a keen interest in the selection of schools and school placement to ensure their wards are placed in a school to benefit from the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy.
Barring any last-minute changes, the Ministry in charge of Education and its agencies including the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) are expected to release the school placement in late February 2023.
