Is UHAS a private or government institution: The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) was founded by an Act of Parliament (Act 828 in December, 2011)

with the goal of developing into a leading research- and practically-oriented health educational institution committed to community service.

Ho is home to the core administration and the major campus. There is a second campus in Hohoe. With 154 students, the institution opened its doors in September 2012.

The first public university to be founded in Ghana’s Volta Region, UHAS is now the only governmental institution in Ghana completely committed to the education of healthcare professionals.

UHAS promotes traditional values that support lifelong learning and success while establishing high standards for behaviour.

According to the university’s opinion, academic performance thrives in an environment with clear expectations.

The university is currently running 21 undergraduate and several postgraduate programmes in eight schools.

The university also has two institutes. These are:

  • Institute of Health Research
  • Institute of Traditional and Alternative Medicine
