In order to improve online teaching and learning for students and staff, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) management has teamed with Steady/X, a Ghanaian Edu-tech business dedicated to bridging the gap between technology and traditional learning methods across Africa. In the Council Chamber, the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, and the Chief Executive Officer of STEADY/X, Mr. John Ayayee, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formally establish their relationship.

Professor Eric Appau Asante, the director of KNUST’s e-learning centre, said the partnership supports the university’s commitment to e-learning, engineering, and technology. As part of the partnership, STEADY/X intends to establish and build a fully functional assembly plant to produce a variety of electronic devices, including mobile phones, tablets, and content access points to enhance education, he added.
According to Mr. Ayayee, STEADY/X stands for “Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, with the principles of life skills,” and he explained the company’s activities to the group. He claims that STEADY/X, a corporation, makes use of technology to offer alternative educational assistance and other related services in an effort to make education more accessible to everyone. Mr. John Ayayee expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with KNUST and his wish that it will support the development of more skilled human capital.

Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, vice chancellor of KNUST, stated her support for the alliance and emphasised the significance of digital resources in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak. She mentioned how KNUST has embraced a hybrid approach to teaching and learning and is dedicated to helping needy students succeed in online learning through the “SONSOL” initiative, which seeks to give computers to every student.
At the meeting were Emmanuel Komeng of STEADY/X, Mr. Emmanuel Nii Okaidza Afful, Director of UITS of KNUST, and Mr. Elorm Adinyira, Director of Supply Chain at STEADY/X. Both sides expressed the hope that the collaboration will last and accomplish its objectives.
