Nursing school interview questions with answers and the 6 Cs you need to know

Before your interview, you must ensure you understand the six Cs of nursing, which are: care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment.

It’s not enough to say what they are – you need to share examples of when you’ve successfully exhibited all these traits.

Background question

“Tell us about yourself” is often the opening question.

The most typical initial query is this question. The interview’s overall tone is established by this.

You may get a decent sense of a professional’s personality and level of professionalism by the way they introduce themselves.

You’ll also get a sense of their career aspirations from it.

During the interview, the main focus will be on you.

  • Briefly describe your personality, your abilities, and any personal information.
  • Pay close attention to your educational background, particularly the senior high school course you took.
  • Give a brief description of any interests you have that show intellectual prowess or social participation, such as reading, music, athletics, or volunteering.
  • Make sure you are speaking clearly because several inquiries can follow your response depending on it.
  • Additionally, interviewers could inquire as to how your course work connects to nursing.

How are you intending to use your studies in general art, general science, or agricultural science in the nursing profession?

What qualities must you possessed as a nurse?

  • Empathy, respect, effective communication, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and other traits make an excellent nurse. These should be in your response.

What will you do if you are being threatened by a patient or relative?

  • The patient’s needs come first in nursing, and since you are a professional, you should have the ability to defuse a situation. Therefore, in your response, you should demonstrate these traits.

Current Affairs or Happenings

Effective Communication
  • The interview isn’t complete without questions about current events and happenings, including current health events and happenings like the Anthrax disease and meningitis outbreak that occurred in 2023.
  • Current events that might not be related to nursing or health. For example, the reason for the current by-election.
  • It’s also crucial to be aware of the political leaders in your community, such as the municipal or district chief executive, the member of parliament, and the Health Ministers.

Have you any question for us?

  • You can ask any rational question concerning the nursing programme that you find fascinating, and it’s also OK if you don’t have any questions or concerns.
