Retention of SHS Self Placement in CSSPS 2023

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has affirmed its commitment to retaining the self-placement option in this year’s Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), despite the 2023 BECE students being allowed to select up to 11 schools during the school selection process.

Understanding the 2023 CSSPS Process

In an exclusive conversation with our editorial team, a representative from the Ministry clarified that students who participated in the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will be required to choose six public second-cycle schools in the first placement phase and an additional five in the second placement phase.

Explaining further, when asked if the self-placement feature would be phased out due to students’ ability to select a maximum of 11 second-cycle schools, the MoE official stated, “The self-placement option will remain available this year.”

Utilizing the Self-Placement Feature: Step by Step

He elaborated, “Graduates of the 2023 BECE will have the opportunity to select 11 schools. However, if a student is not assigned to any of their chosen 11 schools, they will have the option to utilize the self-placement feature,” as shared with our team.
