SHS Placement Form Not For Sale: MoE

The SHS placement form for secondary cycle education, which is readily accessible for free download at https://freeshs.net, is emphatically not intended for sale.

SHS Placement Form

A Ministry of Education (MoE) official has issued a stern warning to heads of primary schools against selling this form to students or their parents.

The official emphasized, “Each Junior High School has received a copy of the school selection register.

The school placement form has been made available online on the Free SHS Secretariat website (https://freeshs.net) and is not to be sold,”.

In the 2023 BECE for School Candidates, a total of 600,714 candidates participated, comprising 300,323 boys and 300,391 girls from 18,993 Junior High Schools.

This examination took place from Monday, August 7, 2023, to Friday, August 11, 2023.

Regarding the 2023 BECE for Private Candidates, there was a total entry figure of 1,743 candidates, consisting of 889 males and 854 females.

This figure represents a 5.4% increase compared to the 1,132 candidates in 2022.

The 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates was conducted at 2,137 examination centers nationwide, with an additional 15 centers primarily in regional capitals for the BECE for Private Candidates.

To ensure the smooth and successful administration of the 2023 BECE for School and Private Candidates, a total of 2,137 supervisors, 2,000 supervisors, and 21,027 invigilators were assigned.

In a related update, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced that three weeks after the completion of the Basic Education Certificate Examination, they will commence the marking of scripts for both School and Private Candidates.

Speaking to our reporter, a representative of the non-profit organization stated that the duration of the marking process and the release date of BECE results would be determined after preliminary coordination meetings by RPCC.

How to get BECE result Checker

For those interested in checking their 2023 BECE results online, a result checker card or voucher is required.

To purchase the BECE result checker card from WAEC, dial *944# on your mobile phone and follow the on-screen instructions.

How to Check BECE Result

  1. Visit the BECE result-checking portal.
  2. Confirm your Index number.
  3. Select examination type (BECE School).
  4. Choose the examination year (e.g., 2023).
  5. Enter your Serial number (e.g., 190000000001).
  6. Input your Pin (C1B2C3D4E5F9).
  7. Click submit and await your BECE result to be displayed.

In case candidates encounter any issues during the 2023 BECE result-checking process, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) management has assured that immediate support can be obtained by sending an email to them.
