UHAS Hostels and Fees 2023/2024: All you need to know

UHAS Hostels and Fees 2023/2024: The University Of Health and Allied Sciences is a renowned educational institution focusing on health science courses and is currently undergoing development.

Our primary focus is on the hostels at UHAS, specifically the ones situated at the Ho campus.

Subsequently, we will discuss the hostels at the Hohoe campus.

Various hostels are located in different areas. One is in proximity to the Dave campus, another near the Trafalgar campus, and yet another near the main campus.

Additionally, there are hostels scattered around the Ho Polytechnic and Nogora areas.

Asorgli Hostel

Asorgli Hostel, constructed by the university, is situated close to the Trafalgar campus.

It is an aesthetically pleasing hostel on campus and offers amenities such as Wi-Fi, 24/7 water supply, CCTV cameras, individual washrooms in each room, a balcony serving as the kitchen, and accommodation for four students per room.

This particular hostel primarily caters to medical students, some pharmacy students, some physician assistant (PA) students, and a few students from other programs.

Sokode Hall is one of the new hostels. The Hostel is named after the town.

Its features are similar to that of the Asorgli Hostel and one of the best hostels every student would love to stay

Jim Fugar Hostel

Jim Fugar Hostel, named after its owner, is situated behind Ho Technical University (HTU).

It shares similarities with the other hostel and accommodates students from the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM), Physiotherapy, Imaging, and Speech Therapy programs.

While it currently lacks a study room, plans are underway to renovate some rooms for this purpose.

Jim Fugar Hostel is a gated facility with individual washrooms, a balcony, and round-the-clock security, similar to the other hostels.

Defiat Hostel

Defiat Hostel is located near the Nogora junction and can accommodate more than four but fewer than six students per room due to its spacious layout.

Two rooms share a common washroom.

It is the only hostel with a small kitchen and provides study rooms on each floor, including a TV room.

The hostel offers a refrigerator for student use and features benches around the premises for relaxation.

In addition to the piped water supply, Defiat Hostel has a borehole as an alternative water source.

Permanent Campus Hostel

The Permanent Hostel derives its name from its proximity to the main campus, known as the Permanent Site.

It is located within walking distance from the main campus in Sokode and is also not far from the lecturers’ bungalows.

Similar to other hostels, it provides Wi-Fi access, a continuous water supply, individual washrooms for each room, a shared kitchen for the entire block, and a refrigerator room.

This hostel can accommodate 68 students, including both first-year and continuing students, with a majority of them being Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (MBMB) students.

SRC Hostel

The SRC Private Hostel was donated to the university’s Student Representative Council (SRC) and was acquired during the tenure of Hon Felix Apaloo’s administration.

It is located near the Nogora junction and is exclusively for continuing students.

This hostel is gated, equipped with CCTV cameras, provides 24/7 security, and offers a TV room. Each room has its own washroom, accommodating two individuals.

UHAS Dave Hostel

Dave Hostel is located near the Dave Campus and provides accommodation for continuing students pursuing degrees in medicine, pharmacy, and physician assistant studies.

This hostel also features a football and volleyball field.

Edna Hostel

Edna Hostel, situated near the Stevens Hotel, is designated for some first-year MBMB students as well as continuing MBMB students.

Trafalgar Hostel (UHAS Hostels and Fees)

The Trafalgar hostel is located on the Trafalgar or the Ho Teaching Hospital Campus.

It has 24 hours water and Wi-Fi supply. Each room has a washroom but students have to share a common kitchen

The hostel has a TV room which shows all football matches and other programmes.

This hostel is mainly for medical students.

Finally, Alex Dey Hostel, situated along Maryland Road, is located a short distance from Jim Fugar Hostel.

It accommodates some first-year students as well as continuing students studying Medilab, Dietetics, and other programs.

The accommodation charges for University hostels are structured as follows:

a. New Medical hostels – GHS 2,180.00 per student.

b. All other hostels – GHS 1,756.95.

  • All the hostels mentioned, including Jim Fugar, Defiat, Alex Dey, Edna, and Permanent Hostel, prioritize security.
  • They are enclosed by a boundary wall and have a gated entrance with a security personnel stationed there.

Cleanliness is well-maintained in all the hostels as cleaners visit every morning to tidy up the surroundings.

  • Water-related problems are rare, ensuring a consistent water supply.
  • Each hostel has its own elected Hostel President who serves as the representative of the students residing in that particular hostel.
  • Each hostel has a patron which the hostel presidents are to account to

In the near future, the University of Health and Allied Sciences has plans to establish its own hostels in close to the campuses.

This development will enhance transportation convenience for students attending various campuses.
