UHAS School Of Medicine Cut off Point: The six (6) year Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) programme is divided into two (2) phases. Pre-clinical training lasts for the first three (3) years and entails introducing students to the Basic Sciences.
Clinical training based on the clerkship system is provided throughout the course of the next three (3) years at the Ho Teaching Hospital as well as other municipal and district hospitals in the region.
The five main departments of medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, and community medicine are visited by groups of students during this portion of their study.
Students also learn about other clinical specialties such as psychiatry, dermatology, oncology, paediatric surgery, palliative care, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and forensic pathology.
UHAS SOM: BACHELOR OF PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT
UHAS School Of Medicine Cut off Point: This course lasts four (4) years. The first two years are used to introduce students to the field and prepare them by covering core sciences. Professional training is the main focus of the third and fourth years.
The third year of study covers the basics of clinical medicine as well as preventive medicine, evidence-based medicine, pharmacology and therapeutics, diagnostic techniques, and health administration.
Clinical clerkships predominate in the last year. Via clerkships in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, and Primary Care, students get experience in the major medical specialties.
Under the direction of experts in healthcare institutions, these clerkships are carried out at primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare facilities.
In addition to the course’s other components, a strong emphasis is placed on developing surgical abilities in both surgery and obstetrics. During the lengthy breaks, there are vocational training sessions where students acquire and hone practical skills.
